The Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs (VPASA) is the chief academic officer of the College and reports directly to the President. The VPASA is responsible for providing leadership, and administrative oversight for planning and directing the College's academic affairs office, student affairs office, learning centers in Arrak, Ebeye, and Jaluit, library and its special collections, and continuing education. The VPASA currently oversees the office of institutional integrity and effectiveness and institutional research. In addition, the VPASA is responsible for providing leadership for accreditation-related matters and other assigned duties/projects.
Dr. Melinda Nish, has been serving as the Executive Advisor to the President and the Acting Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs since August 2016. During this time, Dr. Nish has helped lead the College to regaining full accredited status, as well as obtaining approval from the Accrediting Commission for Junior and Community Colleges for new programs and degrees, which include the Marine Sciences Certificate, the Advanced Specialization Certificate in Deaf Education, the Advanced Specialization Certificate in Severe Disabilities Education, and the Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. This is the first four-year degree to be offered by the College and marks a significant milestone in the development of quality academic access to the Marshallese people.
