The College of the Marshall Islands is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
Brief Accreditation History
CMI has been on sanction from the ACCJC since January 2003. In June 2004,
after a site visit and a review of the institutional self-evaluation from
ACCJC, CMI was placed on Show Cause status. In January 2006 the Show Cause
status was removed and the College moved up a level to Probation status. In
January 2007, following a November 2006 on-site visit, the College was moved
up another level to Warning status. The last on-site visit was conducted in
December 2007 and the College remained on Warning status as a result of that
visit. The College submitted a Special Report to the ACCJC in October 2008,
and the College was removed from Warning status and its accreditation was
reaffirmed by the Commission in January 2009. The College will undergo a
comprehensive visit in March 2009.
