Major Subject Areas, Degree Programs & Graduation Requirements

A major subject area is a selected program of study leading to a degree or certificate. For financial aid and other purposes, a major must be declared at the beginning of course work at the College, as part of the admission process. Students may change their major at any time; however, doing so may slow down their progress towards a CMI degree.

A degree or certificate is awarded upon completion of the required credits for the selected degree program, including the satisfactory completion of the General Core requirements and of the required courses in the selected major. A cumulative grade point average of at least 2.00 is required for graduation. A student may not graduate while on academic probation. Students who expect to graduate must submit an Application for Graduation form no later than the last day of registration in the semester in which they expect to complete the degree requirements. Application forms are available from the Office of Admissions. A $25.00 graduation fee must accompany the application.

For full-time students, Certificates of Completion typically take one year to complete, associate degrees take two years, and bachelor’s degrees take four years.
