Marshallese Studies

In 2014, the Marshallese Studies become a stand-alone academic department. The Department now offers 10 Marshallese Studies courses and two new certificate programs, namely Marshallese Language Arts (MLA) and Marshallese Social Studies (MSS).

Mission

The mission of Marshallese Studies is to educate, develop, and train the Marshallese community members, teachers, and scholars in Marshallese Studies through academic-based instructional classes and community-based seminars.

Programs Offered

(CC-MLA) Certificate of Completion in Marshallese Language Arts

Upon completion of the Marshallese Language Arts program, the student will be able to: use evidence-based content, communicate language arts concepts, use varied evidence-based teaching methods to teach Marshallese writing, reading, listening, and speaking.

(CC-MSS) Certificate of Completion in Marshallese Social Science

Upon completion of the Marshallese Social Studies program, the student will be able to: exhibit proficiency in the Marshallese Language, synthesize information in/on Marshallese culture from a wide variety of sources, demonstrate awareness of and skills in civic engagement, articulate the role of the Marshall Islands in history.

Marshallese Keyboard

The guides will lead you to configuring your keyboard to show Marshallese characters in Windows 7, Windows 8 & 8.1, and Windows 10. It is also a unicode font, which means that it can be read by other software platforms. A project of the Marshallese Studies Department in collaboration with Arden White (Microsoft Computer Engineer).
