The New Student Orientation is for all new, transferred, and readmitted students who have been accepted at CMI. This is a mandatory event for these students as it provides critical information that provides tools and support for the student to become successful within their courses and on campus.
If you have not completed your Financial Aid, this is the time to visit the Financial Aid Department to get assistance. You do not have to do this by yourself!
This is when classes start! REMEMBER: Go to your classes because if you miss the first week, you can be dropped.
This is the time that if you wish to Add or Drop your classes, Week 1 is the time to do it. Here is the form.

TIP: Need extra help? If you find that you’re struggling or want to get ahead, this is a great time to schedule tutoring appointments at the Writing Center of STAMP Learning Ceter. Early support can make a big difference!
If you wish to Withdraw your courses with Official Record, do it during Week 2.
TIP: Speak with your faculty advisor or your instructor first to understand how it might affect your progress of the Financial Aid Staff.
If you are taking AP courses (Advanced Programs), your midterm is coming up next week! Take this time to seek academic support for proof reading your essays, or getting assistance on solving problems.
If you are in AP (Advanced Programs), you are probably doing your Midterms. During this time, take the time to learn healthy study habits.
Student Clubs are slowly being drafted and finalized, therefore if you wish to create Clubs please seek help from the Senator of Student Clubs.

Week 6 allows you to Withdraw with a “W” for the Half-Semester students (AP Courses).

This is the opportunity to review your grades, check your current academic status, and if you’re graduating, see if you are on track to graduate.
Make Up Days for Friday Classes (other classes do not meet) also this is the Final Meeting for all AP Courses.

Midterm Progress Reports for full-semester courses / Final grades for half-semester modules due

REMINDER: Students who failed a DEVED courses in the First Half (e.g. an 80’s course) and is enrolled to a subsequent “90s course” for Second Half must: Drop the 90s course, Add another section for appropriate 80s course using the standard Add/Drop form, or add another required course.
Beginning of your second half of the semester (AP Courses)
Spring: If you are planning to graduate, this is the week to start submitting your Graduation Application. Due one month before the Commencement Exercises.
Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Make sure to stop by Counselling Office to receive extra support to boost you to complete the semester. This is also the time for Add or Drop for AP students.

SPRING: If you are planning to graduate, and have submitted your application. This is the week to pay for your $25 Graduation Fee.

CONGRATULATIONS! You made it whether this is your first, second, third, or your FINAL semester here in CMI! If you are a graduate, congratulations! Please visit TRACC Office to receive additional help about transferring to four year school or help make your resume look good!

Student Rights and Responsibilities
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)– The College ensures that student academic records are confidential and access to them is limited to the students and , for advisory or other educational purposes, to designated administration and faculty, and outside funding agencies supporting the student’s education. The student’s academic record may not be released to other persons or agencies outside the College without the permission of the student. Students, upon request, may inspect and review their academic records in the Record’s Office.
Freedom of Speech and Dissent– The College prizes and defends freedom of speech and dissent. It affirms the right of teachers and students to teach and learn, free from coercive force and intimidation and subject only to the constraints of reasoned discourse and peaceful conduct. It also recognizes that such freedom and rights entail responsibility for one’s actions. Thus, the College assures and protects the rights of its members to express their views so long as there is neither use, nor threat of force, or interference with the rights of others to express their views.
Respect– for the rights, dignity and integrity of others. Respect each other’s differences, different points of view, different perspectives, different cultures and the campus.

Student Disciplinary
The College of the Marshall Islands expects each student to comply with Republic of the Marshall Islands law and College regulations. Illegal acts will be reported to the police. Legal proceedings do not obviate the need for College disciplinary action, nor does College disciplinary action in any way forestall legal actions.
